Sam moved to New Zealand in 2002 from Mainland China, completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) at the University of Canterbury in 2006 and joined the accounting team at HP Hanna & Company Ltd in 2007. He is also a qualified as an Australian Certified Practising Accountant (CPA).

Sam enjoys playing basketball with his friends. He also loves spending time with his wife and young son and daughter.
